Deer pattern

Creating patterns has been my job for over four years now, but still it never feels like a chore. Starting something new always gets me so excited and my heart jumps with joy when I finally get to show you what I've come up with and you love it as much as I do. Thank you!

Working on this deer was especially exciting. It's just something I've wanted to make for a while now and somehow it turned out just the way I wanted on the first go. Usually I have to make a few prototypes, there's always something that takes a few tries to get just right, but this time the little deer just came to life almost on its own.

I love working with pure alpaca wool, it's just so soft and beautiful, and that's what I picked this time as well. The yarn I used was Alpaka from Alvita, a DK weight 100% alpaca wool, 100m/50g (109yd/50g), in 021 light beige, 090 dark brown and 010 off white.

For more info, full materials list and a little preview, take a look at the first four pages. And if you now feel like crocheting a little deer yourself, get a copy of the pattern here or here.

But if crocheting is not your cup of tea, the two deer I made when writing the pattern are still looking for a home, take a look here.

Hi gorgeous reindeer. Did you use wire to support antlers?

Hi Linda,

No, when stuffed firmly, the antlers will stay up without any additional support.
