Christmas Teddy Bear
I took my sleepy teddy pattern, chose some festive colors, made a few little changes and voila! - a really sweet Christmassy teddy bear was born. If you want to make one yourself then keep reading, I will talk you through all the details.
I didn't change the actual pattern, just skipped the shoes and eyelids, changed the colors and added a few details.
To make the sweater I started the body with beige yarn, then switched to red yarn after finishing round 14, crocheted round 17 with white yarn, continued with red yarn and then made the last two rounds with beige yarn. Same with the arms - started the sweater after finishing round 8, crocheted round 11 with white yarn and then finished with red yarn.
And then turned the body and arms upside down and crocheted a row of slip stitches between the rounds where I changed yarn. I explain how to do that in detail in my surface stitching tutorial.
And then embroidered a little snowflake to the front of the body with cotton embroidery floss. Single crochet stitches are square so you could also do a little cross stitch pattern, if you want.
I sewed a little pom-pom to the tip of the hat. I wanted i to look a bit messy and not too neat, so I didn't make it very thick.
I also made him a little knitted scarf to keep him nice an cozy. I cast on 7 stitches and then continued knitting in rib stitch - knit one, purl one, repeat to the end of the row, then turn and purl one, knit one, repeat until the end of the row. Keep knitting until you have the length you want.
And added a simple yarn fringe.
And done! My own little wintery teddy bear. I think he turned out rather sweet, if I say so myself :)
What seasonal cuteness are you creating? I would love to see your Christmas projects, leave me a comment below or pop over to my Facebook page and write a little post.

Hi Kristi,
Thank you so much for sharing your revised pattern.
I think it is better than the original sleepy bear as I found the hat too small.
I am having trouble printing your details of the pattern
Kind regards,
Lucy
